Building/Grounds Committee
Since January 2005, this committee has literally built ASK from the ground up: the Building Committee volunteers created the current gallery, office, and retail space on the ground floor, and enabled ASK members to use the ASK Arts Center at 97 Broadway starting with the May 2005 Gala and the July Maquette Show of the 2005 Kingston Sculpture Biennial, the first ASK show in the 97 Broadway space.
The Building Committee urgently seeks volunteers to help complete the second phase of ASK: the 3000 square foot second floor will house a 99 seat, state-of-the-art theatre, an art classroom / studio space, and three more bathrooms. The Committee also plans the installation of: insulation, a new roof, a renovated fire escape and an elevator to make the building truly universally accessible. We hope to include a photovoltaic system on the roof that will convert sunlight directly into electric power, so that ASK will contribute solutions to the problems that currently face the planet.
The Building Committee welcomes your physical presence any Saturday morning (starting at 8 am), or your contributions of money or expertise to complete this wonderful community arts space.
