Since 1995, ASK has been a major force in the cultural growth and artistic vitality of the Hudson Valley. Through our art exhibitions, educational programs, special events and information resources, we have inspired tremendous growth in the number of visitors, participants and members who have enjoyed the ASK experience. Visual Arts
While ASK does not represent specific artists, the organization does strive to help promote interest in our members’ art by providing opportunities to have their work seen through exhibitions and studio tours. During the year, ASK hosts 10-12 members’ shows in one of its galleries at its headquarters at 97 Broadway in the Rondout section of Kingston, as well as shows of featured artists at the same location and off-premise shows elsewhere in the area.
Performing Arts
ASK is home to many performances including plays, musicals, music performances, poetry readings and much more. The Playwrights’ Lab, a workshop for plays-in-progress, is a weekly feature and has hosted ASK Playwrights’ Lab Summer Festival of Staged Readings.
The ASK Arts Center
In 2005, ASK acquired the building at 97 Broadway in Kingston and renovations are
still in progress. The second floor will eventually include a state-of-the-art 99-seat performance venue offering plays, live music, films and multi-media performances, as well
as a classroom and artists’ workspace.
More About ASK
ASK organizes a Biennial Open Studio Tour and the Kingston Sculpture Biennial, which take place in alternate years from July through October.
ASK produces “ASK for Arts,” a monthly gallery guide highlighting current exhibitions in Kingston.
