ASK Presents: sensing making sense

October 18, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

- $15 – $20

Created and performed by Charlotte Gibbons.

If an organism is an embodied theory of it’s environment and history, then sensing making sense is a chronicle of my experience of being a theory.

This theory of me is informed and altered by what I touch, taste, smell, see and hear. It unfolds as a process; born of intelligent observation, absurd assumption, direct relationship and inexplicable coincidence.

sensing making sense inhabits the meeting place of the mindful and mindless, the inevitable and ineffable, the home of reverent irreverence, our human form. This piece seeks to interrogate the poetic nature of that recursive relationship.

Charlotte Gibbons is a Columbia County based movement artist and teacher. She co-founded the New Paltz Dance Coop and HV Movement Collective, two fledgling organizations looking to bring greater visibility and accessibility to movement based art. Her work has led her into a bottomless investigation of improvisation and scores, as a way to study human-ness and being.
